How to care for Leather Products

Protection

To protect leather products from sunlight and heat, try to keep them in a shaded area or a protective cover when not in use. Avoid placing leather products near a window, heater, or fireplace. If you need to clean your leather product, be sure to test the cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't damage the leather.

Cleaning

If you need to clean a particularly dirty area on your leather product, you can use a mild soap and water solution. Mix a small amount of soap in a bowl of warm water and use a soft, clean cloth to apply the solution to the leather. Gently rub the area with the cloth, being careful not to scrub too hard or saturate the leather. After cleaning, wipe the leather product with a clean, damp cloth and allow it to dry completely before conditioning.

Storage

If you're storing your leather product for an extended period of time, consider stuffing it with tissue paper or a soft cloth to help it maintain its shape. Avoid using plastic bags or other non-breathable materials, as these can cause the leather to dry out and crack. If your leather product gets wet, be sure to dry it thoroughly before storing it to prevent mildew and mold growth.

Spills and stains

If you spill something on your leather product, it's important to act quickly. Use a clean, dry cloth to blot up as much of the spill as possible. Avoid rubbing the stain, as this can cause it to spread. If the stain persists, try using a leather-specific cleaner or a solution of equal parts water and white vinegar. Apply the cleaner or solution to a clean, soft cloth and gently rub the area until the stain is removed. After cleaning, be sure to condition the leather to keep it soft and supple.
