Menu Board & Bill Holder Set for Roma Brases

The Client & the Task

Roma Brases is a restaurant brand with a distinct identity built around warmth, craftsmanship, and a Mediterranean character. The client needed a cohesive set of table accessories that would carry the brand into every guest interaction — from the moment the menu arrives to the close of the bill. The task was to design and produce two complementary items: a large-format menu board and a compact bill holder, both branded and made from premium natural materials. The result needed to feel like a unified system rather than two separate objects.

Design Concept

The menu board is the centrepiece of the set. It is constructed from a wooden frame with brass pin hardware at the top, holding a full-format leather panel in place. The leather cover — available in natural tan and deep olive — carries the Roma Brases logo and bull emblem embossed directly into the surface. Embossing rather than printing was the deliberate choice here: it gives the brand mark a tactile, three-dimensional quality that print simply cannot replicate, and it ages beautifully with the leather rather than fading or peeling over time.

The bill holder echoes the same design language in a smaller format. A light wood frame with brass corner rivets holds a curved leather pocket — in deep burgundy — that sits behind a cut-out window. The Roma Brases name and bull symbol are laser-engraved into the wood panel above the pocket. The combination of engraved wood and leather in a single compact object gives the bill holder a richness that far exceeds what a standard folder or tray could offer. Together, the two pieces form a set that is immediately recognisable as belonging to the same brand and the same aesthetic world.

Production Details

The menu board is produced by cutting and finishing the wooden frame, then attaching the leather panel using brass pin hardware at the top edge. The leather is sourced in full grain and embossed with the logo under heat and pressure, creating a permanent brand impression that holds its definition through regular handling. Two colourways — natural tan and dark olive — were produced for the client, allowing placement variation across different table zones or seasonal use.

The bill holder is built from laser-cut wood with a recessed frame profile, finished with brass dome rivets at each corner. The leather pocket insert is shaped with a curved top edge and fitted into the lower portion of the frame, creating a clean arc that guides the eye and makes inserting or removing the bill effortless. The engraving on the wooden panel is applied with consistent depth and alignment across the full batch. Both items are designed for durability in a working restaurant environment — materials that handle daily use, cleaning, and the natural wear that comes with genuine hospitality service.

Where This Works

A matched menu board and bill holder set works especially well for restaurants with a strong interior identity — where the table accessories are expected to carry the same level of thought as the food, the service, and the space itself. Steakhouses, wine bars, Italian and Mediterranean concepts, and premium casual dining venues all benefit from this format because the materials — leather, wood, brass — speak the same visual language as a well-designed interior.

The set is fully adaptable: leather colour, wood tone, hardware finish, logo placement, and board size can all be configured to match a specific brand and space.
